Colin B. Harris, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at North Jersey Orthopaedic Institute (NJOI), and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School. In addition to teaching orthopaedic residents and medical students at NJMS, he is also an attending surgeon at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ, handling orthopaedic trauma call and fracture care in addition to his spine practice. He specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of all spine conditions, especially revision spine surgery (patients with previous failed surgery), scoliosis, kyphosis, and cervical spine surgery including disc replacement and motion sparing techniques. He is extensively trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques including transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) and extreme lateral interbody fusion (XLIF). Dr. Harris takes pride in serving the community of northern New Jersey and spends time with each patient to come up with an individual treatment plan, focusing on conservative and minimally invasive treatment methods whenever they are appropriate, and taking the time to identify a specific pain generator in order maximize the chances of a successful outcome. For those patients who do not require surgery, he works closely with physical therapists, physiatrists and pain management specialists to offer a comprehensive approach.
