Dr. David S. Wellman is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the care of fractures and post-traumatic reconstruction. Dr. Wellman holds appointments at both Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Presbyterian Hospital. He has particular interests in articular fractures (bone breaks near major joints), injuries to the pelvis and acetabulum, and fracture non-union and mal-union. Dr. Wellman graduated cum laude from Duke University before completing medical school at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with distinction and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed residency training at Northwestern University where he served as Chief Resident and received department awards for his teaching and his attention to patient care. He then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at HSS and traveled to Germany and Switzerland for further surgical training in the care of trauma patients and pelvic reconstruction.
