Dr. Joseph Pyun is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. He was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University. He then obtained his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He subsequently completed an orthopedic surgery residency at New York Medical College – Westchester Medical Center, a busy level 1 trauma center, where he served as chief resident during his final year of training. Dr. Pyun completed a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He specializes in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders including degenerative, traumatic, infectious, and metastatic pathologies. He is trained in traditional and minimally invasive surgical techniques and will tailor treatment for each individual patient. Dr. Pyun is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, AO Spine, and the Korean American Spine Society. He has authored and presented multiple publications including research papers, abstracts, and textbook chapters.
