How was your experience with the doctor? This review is for Christine, the physician assistant, as well as the staff at the office. Each time I speak with Christine, I never feel rushed   and I truly feel like I'm being listened to and viewed in a holistic way, which are all a huge help. I have been seeing her since the move over from the Harlem office, where I was seeing a different physician assistant, Parnaz, who referred me to a comprehensive psychological evaluation. I never have trouble making appointments, and they really do try their best to be accommodating. Thank you Christine, Parnaz, and awesome receptionists.

How was your experience with the doctor?I've been trying to get in touch with the Dr. Vando Harlem office for weeks. I've left voicemails, sent emails, Facebook messages, left comments on their Facebook wall, my pharmacist has tried to contact twice, and called the other location...no response as of 7:13pm on June 17th. According to another reviewer, the Harlem office has closed. Where was the notification? A little letter, call, or email to let your patients know would have been a kind gesture so we could make other arrangements. I have no medication and my therapist's recommendation for a new doctor can't see me until July. This is completely unacceptable! I will be filing a complaint with the NY Dept of Health.

How was your experience with the doctor?Dr. Vando is the best psychiatrist I have ever seen. Highly intelligent and ethical. All of the negative reviews are misguided. It is true that occasionally he is over booked and sometimes his office people can seem disorganized. But this doesn't differ from any other doctors office I've ever seen. When it comes down to it, Dr.Vando knows what he is doing. I was in a horrible place with my mental health and Dr.Vando caught the problem and over time helped me fix it. I had s brief manic episode and he caught that too. I've been to psychiatrists who were clueless and handed out narcotic medication like candy. This is not dr.vando. He is hands down one of the best doctors I have seen and I will continue to see him for all of the foreseeable future. Give him a shot and disregard the negative reviews, you won't be disappointed.

How was your experience with the doctor? The worst of the worst. They try to steal all of your money by requiring appointments every month for a medication I have been taking for 18 years. All of the other doctors I've seen were yearly. Anyone I tell this to says having to go monthly is crazy. I am fighting with them every month for a refill, they never called insurance like they said they would twice, and everyone has been unprofessional. They take insurance, but it's not worth it. Save yourself the headache. If anything, I'm worse now than before because of this place.

How was your experience with the doctor?Stay away. Stay far away from Dr. Vando! The office staff have the combined intelligence of a jellyfish. The providers talk to their friends on Gchat while they are in sessions. And they close the office without telling patients in advance leaving you high and dry without medication.

How was your experience with the doctor? The office claims that ZocDoc did not notify them of my appointment. Though I signed in, it was an hour before I was told that I had no appointment, though they took my paperwork and insurance card. The staff was very rude and took no responsibility for their error. An hour and forty minutes of my time was wasted with no apology. They fully blamed your service. Ironically I was one of only two people with actual insurance. The office was full of young, able bodied people on Medicaid. They were all seen with no problem. Ian absolutely furious that my time was wasted. I would like to know who is really responsible for this failure. I was thoroughly disgusted by this office and this experience.

How was your experience with the doctor?INSURANCE FRAUD.Don't buy into the "we charge a specialist co-pay here.." My insurance said "patient responsibility $35 co pay" and they have charged me $50 each time. I am dealing with a loop of "We'll call you back" so I am going to let my insurance handle this one. If you want to wait 2 hours, over pay, and be charged $50 for a 25 minute therapy session... this is the right place. Also beware of the psychiatry assistant trying to change all of your medications and shove samples down your throat.

How was your experience with the doctor?I wish I could give this facility no stars. They are the most unprofessional physicians you can ever meet in your life. They treat and look at you as an addict not as a person who needs help with mental illness. They are the most incompetent and unprofessional facility I ever went to in my life . Beware they lose important documentation you might give to them, that was the last draw for me ever going back.

How was your experience with the doctor? If you are seeking a professional office, that respects your time, and makes your visit efficient and stress-fee, then AVOID this office. They are overbooked, when I arrived I could count at least 8 other people in the waiting room. When I asked the receptionist how long of a wait I should except, she gave me a dirty look and told me at least 30-45 minutes, scolding me for asking a legitimate question. This office had already rescheduled my appointment a few days earlier, and I had come all the way from Riverdale, so I told myself I'd wait it out and hope for the best. 45 minutes went by and nothing, there seemed to be a couple other providers taking in patients, but the waiting room remained mostly full. I asked the receptionist if they were overbooked, she told me they were not, and again looked at me dumbfounded that I questioned why I had been waiting for an hour. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, I get called into a room, and the person I am seeing is not even Dr. Vando. I was told that I needed to provide a urine sample, and go visit a location to get blood-work and then it would be decided if I would get to see Dr. Vando or not. I was never told this, I made an appointment to see the psychiatrist and I waited almost 2 hours just to see a nurse. I asked the provider why it took so long for me to be seen he said "If someone is crying on my chair, do you except me to get them to leave?". I had enough at this point and went to go put in a complaint with the receptionist, who didn't apologize once to me, and refused to take any responsibility, telling me "I didn't make your appointment". It seems like this practice takes on so many patients to be able to afford the 4 people they having working the phones and the front desk, who by the looks of it just add to the chaos. It would make much more sense, to hire once person who actually knew what they were doing, and not to over-schedule patients, to be able to provide the best medical care. So to wrap up, avoid this office, if you have no other choice, prepare to wait at least 2 hours, sitting in a waiting room with furniture most likely infested with bedbugs, and get treated like an addict, even if you are not coming in for addiction issues (not that people with addiction problems should be treated in such a manner either).

How was your experience with the doctor?I called beforehand to make sure my insurance was accepted. What they did not tell me was that this specific office has a lot of bullshit fees. Let me list them for you;SSI Letter: $25, Medical Forms: $25, and Medical Letter:$10.I asked the receptionist what this was about and she told me that this was a recent thing that administration did. Most offices don't do this. She said she would check with the manager if it could be waived. I thought this was super sweet considering that I had Medicaid.I arrived for my scheduled appointment at 1:55pm. My appointment was for 2pm and I spoke to the receptionist then. I then proceeded to wait until 2:50pm when I just couldn't take it anymore as the reason I was seeing this psych was for anxiety. When I asked for an update, the other receptionist gave me a blank look and said this was policy. So I waited 50 minutes for them to tell me what was written on the paper. The other receptionist just stayed silent. To be honest, I had never had a worst experience at a doctors office especially with Zocdoc. My PCP and eye doctor are both fantastic, professional and attentive. This office was none of those.Do not come here. Do not get slapped with bs made up fees. Don't waste your time here.

How was your experience with the doctor?this is the worst psychiatrist office I've ever been to. Seriously. The worst.i'm not even upset.  I feel obligated to write this review to protect people with mental health issues. What it's like to go there:first of all every time I go it's an hour and a half wait.Today it was two hours. unlike every other psychiatrist office I've been to, you don't get to see the doctor on the first visit. You wait for an hour and then do the intake for an hour. Where they ask you questions like who is the president of the United States and what color is the wall?so I complain and I get to see a woman. Who seems to be pretending to be a psychiatrist. I explain my symptoms and she does not listen. "serotonin is the first line of defense she says" as if she's reading from a textbook.I tell her my serotonin levels are fine, I know this from years of psychiatry visits, and that I need a medication that affects dopamine. The last medication Welbutrin I was on was great, but I was getting migraines. She insists we double up on my SSRI.I reluctantly agree because I thought she was a psychiatrist.  she thinks that too.Four weeks later after following her advice, I am in a deep state of depression, and having suicidal thoughts. That's when I realize she's an idiot.I stay calm.I book another appointment with Dr. Vando.I arrive and after an hour and a half, I get to see his understudy, this woman again.I asked why can't I see Dr. Vando? She says he's very busy and you need to ask for him specifically. Well I booked an appointment on Zocdoc with Dr. Vando, and you don't look like Dr. Vando. So I calmly accept the situation.I ask her for a dose of Welbutrin that I know will stabilize me (i've been on it before).Twice she insists that I take an additive to my SSRI. she recommends Rexulti.I tell her I have already tried that and it did not work. she insists that I try another additive.I ask if she knows an alternative to Welbutrin that affects dopamine?Twice she says she can't think of any.it felt like she didn't know what she was talking about and was trying to save face by pushing me into something she knew about. she is dangerously incompetent. The whole facility is also incredibly poorly run. They answer the phone roughly 30% of the time. usually you will have to leave a voicemail. Which is tough if your having a mental health emergency. The lack of transparency about having to make a special request to see Dr. Vando feels very shady. The secretary was very nice. But the reception was also a nightmare. it's always a mess and there's no communication.and I'm pretty sure last time the reason I waited so long was because they forgot about me. Somebody came out and asked if I was OK, and I said I've been waiting an hour and a half to see the psychiatrist. He looked very surprised.  This was comforting. Then after about 10 minutes I was shuffled into the woman's office.don't go here if you are a normal person with mild or major depression or anxiety.most of the clientele were people that look like they should be strapped down.Dr. Vando seems to be running a loony bin shit show. And apparently he's never there.this is the worst psychiatrist office I've ever been to. Seriously. The worst.

How was your experience with the doctor?I take my elderly mother here who suffers from dementia and depression. Her doctor, Doc. Banez is great with her. How was your experience with the doctor?Dr. Vando is, hands down, the BEST psychiatrist I have ever had. He's compassionate, an excellent listener, and an expert in his field. He takes the time to walk me through my options, the potential benefits, and the potential side effects. His prescriptions are carefully thought out, and I have full faith in his decisions. I'm shocked that he accepts insurance, since he could easily charge patients a high price for his services. I honestly couldn't recommend Dr. Vando more.

Because both times I have come to the office some lady sees me and Leonardo Vando is texting here what to say and what's to prescribe, witch I don't know how that's legal. How was your experience with the doctor?Be very wary of Dr. Vando.  I was diagnosed bi-polar by a previous doctor, and felt a manic episode coming on.  After already seeing Dr. Vando for sometime, I made an emergency call to the office when I felt a potential manic episode coming on.  No one ever got back to me and I ended up in the Hospital - adding to tons of bills I have to pay, not to mention strains on personal relationships.  This could have all been avoided had Dr. Vando and his office been more responsive.

I arrived about 20 to 30min earlier, the gentleman that greeted me was pleasent and inviting. However, the person I was supposed to meet with, before actually meeting Dr. Leonardo was not only late; but unapologetic. She never even acknowledged the her lateness and that alone set the whole mood office. I only had 10min to speak with her, because I had to rush out to go to work. If I would 've know off hand, I would've schedule to come in when I'm off and have nothing else to do. Otherwise I left anxious, and overwhelmed. As if the process of replacing my psychologist is not hard enough. I feel more at edge now.
