Dr. Lisa Gualberti is a board certified internal medicine physician and Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She attended medical school at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn College of Medicine and graduated in 1995. Dr. Gualberti went on to do her residency training at the University of Miami School of Medicine/ Jackson Memorial Hospital. She completed her medical residency at Staten Island University Hospital where she served as chief medical resident from July 1998 to June 1999. During this time Dr. Gualberti became heavily involved in teaching junior residents and medical students. She became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1998 and passed the boards in the top one percentile in the country. Dr. Gualberti decided to stay on at Staten Island University Hospital as a faculty practice attending and hospitalist during which time she continued to stay heavily involved in teaching medical residents and students, physician assistants and nurse practioners. Dr Gualberti was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professorship for SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in April of 2000. She also served as a clinical preceptor for the Staten Island University Hospital medical residency program, the Wagner College nurse practioners program, and the Wagner College physician assistant program for which she was awarded outstanding preceptor of the year. In 2002, Dr. Gualberti was recognized as a fellow of the American College of Physicians for her dedication to teaching and research. She coauthored numerous research projects, many of which were presented at national meetings. Dr. Gualberti also served as a Quality Assurance Peer Reviewer at Staten Island University Hospital and was a member of the Morbidity and Mortality Committee. She was the grand rounds speaker on bioterrorism at Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Gualberti performed numerous primary care lectures on topics ranging from anemia to rheumatologic autoimmune disorders. In 2004 she opened up her own practice with her twin sister in Colts Neck, NJ. Dr. Gualberti continues to specialize in the management of acute and chronic illnesses that affect people in their teens through their senior years. She also specializes in the care of the acutely ill patient in the hospital setting. Her focus is on preventive medicine with the goal of identifying illnesses at their earliest stage when disease is most curable. Dr. Gualberti enjoys taking the time to answer her patient’s questions and provides informed recommendations based upon sound clinical judgment and the most up to date scientific evidence.
