Dr. Suhatha Charlu is a child, adolescent, & adult psychiatrist, treating a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational difficulties. She specializes in problems of anxiety and stress (panic attacks, OCD, phobias, generalized anxiety), mood and depression, childhood behavior (ADHD, oppositionality), autism spectrum disorders, and psychosis. She believes strongly in the importance of psychotherapy as well as the balanced, evidence-based use of medications where necessary. Dr. Suhatha Charlu feels every session is a therapeutic one, and take time to understand a client's difficulties in the context of their relationships, jobs, school, and daily lives. She is a private pay doctor and do not take insurance. Dr. Suhatha Charlu received her M.D. cum laude from Yale, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her internship in Pediatrics and residency in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was Chief Resident. Dr. Suhatha Charlu further specialized in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry at New York University. Dr. Suhatha Charlu have had appointments as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Cornell and Mount Sinai Medical Schools. She have served as Medical Director of Mount Sinai's Continuing Day Treatment Program, and Attending Psychiatrist at Cornell's inpatient unit and ER. Dr. Suhatha Charlu have had a private outpatient practice for 15 years.
