Dr. Perera specializes in the treatment of insomnia, adult ADD / ADHD, depression, PTSD and anxiety. She has received advanced training in research-based treatments for OCD (exposure and response prevention), insomnia (CBT-I), and PTSD (cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure therapy). Her expertise also includes DBT, a research-based approach for developing effective emotion regulation and interpersonal skills. She completed her B.A. in psychology at Carleton College, her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, and her postdoctoral fellowship at the National Center for PTSD at the Boston VA. She works with adults only. Dr. Perera is actively involved in scientific research on trauma and PTSD and has conducted research both domestically and internationally. She has co-authored many peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at conferences. Dr. Perera has received numerous awards and honors, including the APA Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Fellowship.
